“The headteacher, senior leaders, governing body and staff have a shared vision for the type of education they want to provide.” (Ofsted June 2016)

Along with all schools, we have a Governing Body. Our Governing Body comprises of parents, members of the local community and staff.

The Governing Body has a key role to play in making improvements to our school and raising standards. Working within a complex legislative framework, governing bodies are required to promote high standards of educational achievement. They meet this requirement through strategic planning, target setting, monitoring, evaluation, policy development, review and performance management.

Working in partnership with the Headteacher and other staff, the Governing Body’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Setting the school’s aims and policies
  • Improving standards of teaching and achievement
  • Setting the school’s budget plan and monitoring expenditure
  • Interviewing and appointing staff
  • Acting as a link between the local community, stakeholders and the school.

Our Main Committee delegates many of its responsibilities to its Acheivement, Resources, Well being and Pay Sub-Committees, whilst a Steering Group also meets regularly. The meeting attendance records demonstrate our governors’ commitment to the school.
