Ofsted Parent View Survey
95% of the 152 (yes, one hundred and fifty two!) respondents to Ofsted’s Parent View survey (January 2020) would ‘recommend the school to another parent’. In addition 84% ‘strongly agree’ that their child is happy at Heathbrook.
We encourage parents to give us their feedback whenever possible and you can read some comprehensive comments on Google reviews and the School Guide website.
Our regular and informative communication with parents and carers includes half-termly curriculum Loom videos. Half-termly learning information leaflets are produced. Teachers write a progress report for every child each term to explain recent learning and identify next steps.
Annual Parent Questionnaire – January 2025
During our spring term Parent Partnership meetings we ask parents and carers to complete a comprehensive and highly respected Kirkland Rowell online questionnaire. The responses are representative of all year groups as well as reflecting our community in terms of eligibility for free school meals.
We are delighted that in comparison with other schools nationally, respondents gave the school an ‘excellent overall performance score’. Half of parents rated the school’s overall performance as ‘very good’ and half as ‘good’. No respondents rated the school as ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’. 100% of respondents said they would recommend Heathbrook to another parent.
61% of respondents said that the school had improved over the last year and none thought the school’s performance was worse. [This question was only for parents whose children were not in their first year at the school.] Meanwhile, of parents of new pupils, 55% said that the school was better than they had expected it to be.
The average parental grades for the Ofsted inspection criteria of Personal Development and Leadership and Management were ‘outstanding’.
The survey also highlighted these non-academic areas of school life that parents and carers consider ‘particularly outstanding’:
- School communication
- Caring teachers
- Out of school activities
Parents recognised the work we have done recently to increase our technology resources in order to provide even greater ‘computer access’ to pupils as appropriate. Last year this was identified as an area for even further development and this year it has been judged ‘outstanding’.
The report explained that no areas of school life were considered as a ‘weakness’.
