This morning, the three Year 3/4 Literacy classes performed their Talk for Writing actions for the other classes. Talk for Writing has been really useful to try and remember key phrases and useful vocabulary and this has proved beneficial when we came to write our setting descriptions this week. We have had a wonderful two weeks studying Tadpole’s Promise. First of all, it has tied in perfectly with the arrival of tadpoles in our school pond! We were lucky enough to be able to bring some into our classroom to have a closer look – and discovered they had started the process of metamorphosis, having grown tiny legs.
We have been engrossed this week in writing diary entries as the character Caius.
Caius, a young man living in Pompeii in 79AD is unfortunate enough to witness the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. He documents the terrible events of that day and captures the utter devastation and horror that unfolds.
We had our final ‘Beyond Literacy’ session today with the actors and actresses from Omnibus Theatre.
After two previous sessions on set design, character creation and script writing, it was now the day to meet the professional actors and direct them in order to perfect our play!
