Following on from their learning in class, we looked at how instruments can be sorted into groups by different materials.
The children raised some interesting questions and discovered that our african drums (djembes) were made from animal skin!!

Years 1&2 kick started our Magical Traditions with a song about different Father Christmas’ across the world followed by songs from Australia, Ukraine and Columbia. Our Year 2’s sang in Spanish for the first time and did a fantastic job of it too.
It was great to see their learning come alive on stage!
Today The Starlings learned to play Jingle Bells in their music lesson. All the children had to work in unison to create a wonderful sound. Just like Starlings… I thought about the mottos which the children wrote at the beginning of the year.
‘Together we can do anything.’
‘Help each other to achieve together.’
The children prepared well for their Magical Traditions performances, by creating original lyrics, working on their moves and singing in different languages. There were fun and frolics from the Year 3’s and the Year 4’s demonstrated wonderful harmonies, with a composed performance in Swedish.

Our choir lead the ‘Schools Carol Singing with the Organ’ concert at the Royal Festival Hall. They performed on stage in front of over a thousand children from other schools!
