Music assembly – RE week

The children haven been learning about different religions and we shared some of their performances with the rest of the school.

Year 5 learnt a number of songs, from Islam, Judaism and Christianity whilst Year 6 learned to play music in the style of these religions.

Choir recording@ St Paul’s Church

On Saturday 9th February, Heathbrook choir attended a recording session at St Paul’s Church on Rectory Grove.

Two other school’s were in attendance with the Clapham Community Choir.

We recorded a jazz number, ‘A foggy day in London Town’ on our own and then another 2 songs with the other choirs.

Reception – Ocean music

In Reception we have been listening to sounds from the ocean.

We have learnt a number of songs related to the ocean, which the children have loved singing int he playground!

We have also been using musical instruments to play rhythms to  the names of ocean animals and working on creating a piece of music with this.

Reception – African Rhythms

The children have been listening to and playing African music in their music lessons. They handled many african instruments from the classroom and were able to accompany themselves when singing too!

They also performed a couple of african songs during an assembly.

Year 2- Chinese music

The children have started to look at music in China. They looked at tempo and dynamics and created music, using drums and cymbals, to accompany their dragon (dance) movement.

They definitely enjoyed this lesson – making plenty of noise.

Nursery Music time
