Following our bumper harvest, the year 5s scrubbed and peeled the artichokes ready for the soup pot.
Year 5s have been busy harvesting the Jersusalem artichokes which were planted back in the spring. The tubers were planted under the soil similarly to how you plant potatoes and the children were thrilled when the stems grew to an enormous height. Here’s a sign from the garden explaining more:

Year 5s helped Nursery children to sow the seed for next summer’s wildflower meadow in our wildlife garden this afternoon. They mixed poppy, cornflower and flax seed with sand and scattered it in an area cleared of weeds.
Today The Starlings learned to play Jingle Bells in their music lesson. All the children had to work in unison to create a wonderful sound. Just like Starlings… I thought about the mottos which the children wrote at the beginning of the year.
‘Together we can do anything.’

Our choir lead the ‘Schools Carol Singing with the Organ’ concert at the Royal Festival Hall. They performed on stage in front of over a thousand children from other schools!
Today was the big day for the art curators from year 5 to present the workshop they created to the school visitors to the gallery.
