This term in Year 2 we have been learning all about China. This week we have been learning about how to celebrate Chinese New Year in lots of different ways.

We tried our hands at making some yummy dumplings today. We practiced our peeling and grating skills to add some grated carrots as the filling.

Flour (250g)
Hot water (130ml)
Oil (to fry)

First, combine the flour and water slowly.
Next, knead the dough on a floured surface
Following the kneading, leave to prove in a warm place for 15 minutes (or longer if you have time)
Meanwhile, peel and grate the carrots.
After the dough has prooved cut it into small pieces and flatten them.
Take a small amount of carrots and place them in the middle of the circle of dough.
Pinch the dough together around the carrot to make sure none falls out.
Lastly, carefully fry the dumplings.
