On 24th November Heathbrook Girls football team played the first ever match on our new Community pitch, playing host to Clapham Manor in the Lambeth & Southwark Primary Schools Football League.
The first half of the game was close with both sides having opportunities to take the lead. As the half came to an end, Heathbrook scored two quick goals to take a deserved lead.
During the second half, Clapham Manor had better chances but they were kept at bay by the Heathbrook keeper. The game was decided in a 10 minute period midway in the second half, when Heathbrook scored four goals without conceding. To their credit Clapham continued to attack and were rewarded with two goals before Heathbrook scored a final goal to record a 7 – 2 victory.
Regardless of the score it was great to see so many adults and children at the game to support the teams. One Clapham Manor parent who had witnessed a game at a different venue said, ‘It was good to see our children didn’t spend the whole game chasing the ball, and actually had chances to kick it on a good size pitch!’
Well done to everyone involved on the day!
