Mathletics
Mathletics is the digital home learning resource we use at Heathbrook for children from Year 3 to Year 6. It helps consolidate the maths learning that takes place in class and has been proven to significantly improve progress and attainment.
In Year 6, pupils are expected to complete the assigned Mathletics activities each week. New activities are set every Friday and pupils have one week to complete them.
Mathletics can be accessed on computers, tablets and smartphones, making it easy to use at home.
First News
First News is an interactive online platform where pupils can read and respond to age-appropriate news stories from around the world. It supports reading comprehension, critical thinking, and awareness of current events.
In Year 6, pupils are expected to complete two reading activities each week, choosing freely from the range of articles and tasks available.
First News can be accessed at home on computers, tablets, and smartphones.
Times Table Rock Stars
Times Tables Rock Stars is an engaging online programme that helps pupils practise and improve their recall of multiplication and division facts. Quick and accurate recall of times tables is essential for success in many areas of maths.
Year 6 pupils are expected to practise regularly on Times Tables Rock Stars to build speed and fluency. Short, frequent sessions are recommended for the best progress.
Times Tables Rock Stars can be accessed on computers, tablets, and smartphones.
Ongoing Learning
Reading – All pupils will read with an adult in school at least once a week. Year 6 pupils are expected to read at home for at least 25 minutes a day – 5 times a week. Pupils need to arrive at school each day with their reading records and reading books.
PE – We have PE on Mondays and Fridays.
