This term our whole school text is “Flotsam” by author and illustrator David Weisner.  It’s a brilliant story which doesn’t have any words,  just fabulous illustrations for us to add our own narrative to.  It is about discovering secret and extraordinary worlds inside an old camera and under the sea.

We painted a background last week with sponges and brushes to create an underwater effect and this week we used some colourful art magazines to cut up and make a collage picture.  We looked at the classic paper cuts of Henri Matisse to give us ideas and inspiration.

Careful cutting using the techniques of Henri Matisse.

Balancing shapes and colours across our work to create a pleasing composition.

Blue and orange are complementary colours and work really well together.

All my colours and shapes look good, I think I’ve finished!

Looking good!
