We are celebrating over two years of being involved with the community programme of the Institute of Imagination in Vauxhall. In that time we have made countless visits to their workshop in an old fire station near the Albert Embankment. We have gone in family groups to weekend workshops and pupils have attended half term workshops on their own.
They have offered us tremendous enrichment for our STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mechanics).
Today they wanted to hand over the teaching and the running of the workshops so that knowledge could be passed on and vital skills shared. From the year 5 classes 10 Imaginators were picked to introduce and and run 3 different workshops in rocket launching, chain reactions and sending balloons off into orbit via a wind tunnel. As you can see from the looks of amazement, concentration and joy the children had a fantastic time learning, building, planning and problem solving.
All the pupils running the workshops said a big “Thank You!” to Jess Joyson and her team from the ioi. “It was a fantastic experience, thank you for letting me take part” said La’Tayjah.
