Year 2 had an amazing trip to Battersea Park Zoo today, made even better by the glorious sunshine we are having!
It was a fantastic start to our Animals topic and we loved every second! We saw a range of animals – from emus to monkeys, snakes to wallabies. We even got to stroke a guinea pig and watched the otters eat their lunchtime snack of hermit crabs.
Our guides taught us some great animal facts and showed us real shedded snake skin and emu and ostrich eggs. Did you know that ostrich eggs are white to blend in with the sand of their habitat, but emu eggs are emerald green to blend in with the grassland?
A huge thank you to our parent volunteers and to Battersea Park Zoo for making our day such a great learning experience!
