This week was International Week, where the entire school celebrates different countries and continents from across the world.

In Year 2, we have been learning about India.

We started by practising Mehndi hand designs…

Next, we created a papier mache elephant for our festival on Friday and have all had a chance to design and paint it with Indian patterns.

To celebrate our own cultures and heritage, we dressed in traditional clothes from around the world and had a parade in the playground.

And last (but certainly not least!) we had Mallika Basu visit us to teach us how to make traditional Indian roti bread. She demonstrated, before we had our own try at making the dough and rolling it into delicious flatbreads. We had lots of amazing questions about how she became a professional chef and loved having her. A huge thank you to Mallika for joining us!
