This Week’s Learning
Week commencing Monday 23rd November
Maths – Year 6 will be learning how the add and subtract fractions with different denominators.
Literacy – We are continuing with our narrative piece of writing using the ‘Mysteries of Harris Burdick’ book as inspiration. This week we will learn how to add atmosphere and suspense into our writing.
Science/Outdoor learning – This week we will be conducting an experiment to see which materials are electrical conductors or insulators.
Mathletics is the digital home learning resource that we use at Heathbrook for each child in Reception to Year 6 to consolidate the maths learning that is taking place in class. It is proven to significantly improve levels of attainment and progress. Year 6 pupils need to complete 10 activities a week. The activities are set every Friday and pupils have one week to complete them.
Pupils can access Mathletics via computers, tablets and smartphones.
Reading – All pupils will read with an adult in school at least once a week. Year 6 pupils are expected to read at home for at least 25 minutes a day – 5 times a week. Pupils need to arrive at school each day with their reading records and reading books.
PE – We have PE on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Tuesday will be general fitness skills whilst Wednesday will be lacrosse.
